Caswell Bay is one of the most popular tourist beaches on the beautiful South Gower coast. This small sandy cove is flanked on either side by rock, with low cliffs and ledges that offer easy access to comfortable fishing stations to the east, and a broad expanse of flatter, weedcovered rock and gullies to the west.
SPECIES
The summer and autumn offer bass, mackerel, garfish, wrasse, pollack, dogfish, conger eels, bream, rockling,
trigger fish, various species of flatfish and the occasional ray. Throughout the autumn and winter, plenty of whiting and dabs, and at times codling, can also be caught.
BAIT AND TACKLE
Peeler crabs will produce bass and wrasse if legered or float-fished close in. Lugworms or ragworms and razorfish are best for winter codling, with mackerel strips catching whiting and dogfish. Lure fishing will produce bass, mackerel and small pollack.
